Yoo-hoo! I still have a job ๐. Here is this week’s sketch:

I like it! I might even share it on insta :D. This was my second attempt at it. I know I said I’d give myself a 1 hour limit but I wanted it to be a bit tidier of a sketch. I will say that it still looks pretty rough around the edges, so clearly I didn’t spend too long on it either ๐ .
Here’s the previous version:

It’s not bad. It just felt a little off to me. Plus, I really didn’t like the blue blow and the ugly lines (I never have the patience to draw straight lines).
So, here’s the short story behind this sketch – this was inspired by the incredible feeling of support I felt from my amazing colleagues at Automattic. It was my 2nd (and last) week of support rotation as a new hire and I spent most of it answering to questions that users of WordPress.com had.
It can be a pretty nerve wrecking experience – users are often very frustrated when they contact support and answering their unique, random and sometimes wild questions can be a lot for a new hire. However, my onboarding team was so kind! They shared a number of tips with me and I attended a lot of shadow sessions that they and other people at a8c (aka Automattic) hosted. When I was finally ready to tune into live chats with users, I always knew that help from experienced folks was only a slack message away. I was never alone.
Hopefully, that feeling comes along in this picture.
Anyway, so far I’m really enjoying my time here. If you’re interested – consider applying for open positions.
Until next time – Toodles!
